Wilma Jean (Carlile) Hoover was born June 27, 1936 in Independence, Missouri and departed this life, unexpectedly, on March 24, 2018 at her home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri
She was the daughter of Joshua Walter and Vernie Elizabeth (Killpack) Carlile.
Jean spent her younger years in Harrisonville, Missouri and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1954.
On August 2, 1954, Jean was united in marriage with Harry Allan Hoover, Sr. in Harrisonville, Missouri and they made their home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Before her retirement, Jean was a bookkeeper and accountant for several banks in the Kansas City area.
Jean was a High Priest with the Community of Christ Church. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Ministerial Alliance and the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Council. Jean was the leader of Adult Group B and the Children’s Youth Leader of the Community of Christ Church of Pleasant Hill. She was also a former member of the Green Giant Women’s Basketball Team of Pleasant Hill.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Allan Hoover, Sr. on February 21, 2007; her parents, Joshua and Vernie Carlile; one son, Harry Allan Hoover, Jr.; one daughter, Connie Jo Hoover; one brother, Virgil Carlile, Sr. and two sisters, Violet Stowell and Mildred Talcott.
She is survived by one daughter, Twila (Hoover) Foley of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two brothers, Donald Carlile, and Marion “Shorty” Carlile and wife Yvonne, all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy Rosanbalm of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and her twin sister, June Tygart of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Karen Hoover of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral service for Wilma Jean (Carlile) Hoover will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Community of Christ Church, 1007 Timber Street, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, with Pastor Steven La Rue officiating. Casket Bearers will be Travis Hoover, Rick Hoover, Brent Hoover, Derek Foley, Christopher Foley, Joshua Foley and Stacie Hubler. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Community of Christ Church, 1007 Timber Street, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. In Memory of Wilma Jean (Carlile) Hoover, the family suggests contributions to the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Council.
