VINCENT CHARLES “Vince” CUMMINGS (CAMMISANO)

Vincent Charles “Vince” Cummings (Cammisano) was born June 18, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on March 7, 2023 at his home in Holden, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 17 days.

He was the son of William and Antoinette (Cipolla) Cammisano.

Vince spent his younger years in the Kansas City area, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Independence, Missouri. On May 7, 1955 Vince was united in marriage with Judith Carol Schmidt in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Vince worked as an electrician and owned several businesses, restaurants, and entertainment establishments throughout his life.  His dream and passion was to be a cowboy and ride cutting horses.  Vince studied and learned from the top trainers and showmen in the cutting horse business.  Vince went onto breed, raise, and train his own horses.  He hauled and competed across the country winning championships and receiving many accolades.  Vince was known for riding top horses and being a tough competitor.  Vince’s name was synonymous with his most prized horse Doc’s Jaybird whom he hauled and showed to win the American Quarter Horse Association’s World Champion Junior Cutting Horse title.  Vince was recognized as a top cutting horse judge.  He judged many of the most prestigious events throughout the country including the NCHA Futurity and Super Stakes in Fort Worth, Texas.  Vince and his wife Judy raised their family centered around horses and the cowboy way of life.  Vince also raised champion Boer goats along with highly sought after Spanish goats.  Vince also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.  He loved to spend the day at the sale barn on auction day visiting with his many friends.

Vince was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association and the Spanish Goat Association. He was also a member of IBEW Local #124 of Kansas City for over 70 years. 

Vince was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was proud of his family and looked forward to spending time with them.

Vince was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holden, Missouri.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents, William and Antoinette (Cipolla) Cammisano, one brother, William D. Cammisano, Jr., and one infant grandson, Shaden William Samples.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Cummings of the home; two sons, Willie Joe Cammisano and wife Deborah of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Vincent Charles Cummings, Jr. of Holden, Missouri.; one daughter, Toni Sue Samples of Adrian, Missouri; one sister, Cathy (Nigro) Chiaminto and husband Victor; one brother, Jerry Cammisano and wife Josephine; grandchildren, Nichole (Cammisano) Haag and husband Darren, Michael Cammisano and wife Sarah, Amy Barber Park and husband Jack, Chris Barber and wife Corissa, Vincent Charles Cummings III, Cassie (Cummings) Chesney, Sophia Cummings, Summer Samples and Tryin Samples; great-grandchildren, Silas Haag, Raquel Park, Rowan Park, Noah Barber, Isaiah Barber, Josiah Barber, Brooke Barber; nephews and nieces, Anthony Michael Nigro and wife Charlesa, Lisa Lombardo, Antoinette (Cammisano) Wagner and husband Mel, Willie Cammisano III, Carlo Cammisano, Antoinette (Cammisano) Pisciotta and husband Tony George, Mariann (Cammisano) Meiners and husband Joey, Vito Cammisano; many great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, with Father Curt Vogel officiating. The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life Visitation immediately following the funeral service from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
