RAMONA LOUISE (Rogers) LEIGHTER

Ramona Louise (Rogers) Leighter was born September 10, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on July 3, 2024 at Carmel Hills Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 23 days.

She was the daughter of Richard Lee and Nancy Louise (Pemberton) Rogers.

Ramona spent her younger years in the Lee’s Summit, Missouri area where she attended Lee’s Summit High School.

In 1966, Ramona moved to Nebraska for four years, and it is where her children were born. In 1970, Ramona moved her family back to Lee’s Summit, Missouri to make their home.

On March 10, 1984, Ramona was united in marriage with James Allen Leighter. After their marriage they continued to make their home in Lee’s Summit. Ramona and James were later divorced but remained friends.

Ramona was a “rolling stone” with many careers over her lifetime. She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing bingo.

Above all else, Ramona loved her family and, of course, her cat Archie.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Lee and Nancy Louise (Pemberton) Rogers; one brother, Cilby Louis Rogers and one sister, Yolinda Lee Rogers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Ann Pinkston of Nebraska and Roxie Louise Clark of South Dakota; three sisters, Patricia Lynn Hahn of Adrian, Missouri, Annie L. Stadler of Blue Springs, Missouri and Bonnie Lou Blankenship of Bates City, Missouri; numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

Per Ramona’s request, a graveside service will be held at a later date at the Sni-Mills Holiness Cemetery.
