Robert Curtis Lilly

Robert Curtis Lilly was born September 11, 1945, in St. Charles, Missouri and departed this life on March 10, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by the love of family, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 27 days.

He was the son of Robert Eugene and Mildred Lois (Rockwell) Lilly.

Curtis spent his younger years in Raytown, Missouri before the Lilly family moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home. Curtis attended school in Pleasant Hill, after school, Curtis always found time to play pool and became a “pool shark” at a young age.

In 1968 Curtis entered the United State Army and proudly served his country. After basic training, he was stationed in Korea for a year, then he was sent to Ft. Lewis in Washington to finish out his military career. After his honorable discharge, Curtis returned to Lee’s Summit, Missouri for a short time before moving to the Springfield, Missouri area to make his home. Curtis founded Lilly Construction shortly after moving to the Springfield area and was still owner and operator of the business at the time of his death.

Curtis enjoyed watching football, fishing, hunting, bowling and a good game of poker, but playing pool was still his favorite hobby.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Lilly; two sisters, Dorothy Cornelius and Louise Boston and one brother, Samuel Lilly.

He is survived by his long-time partner, Shari Himmelberg of the home; one son, Nathaniel C. Lilly  and grandson, Noah Lilly both of Willard, Missouri; one daughter, Amanda Zieman of Tucson, Arizona and grandchildren, Cameron, Gracie, Caleb, Jordan, Mirranda, Ryan and Florence; brothers, Jim Lilly and Jack Truman of Kansas City, Missouri, Keith Lilly and Debbie of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sisters, Linda Farnsworth and husband Gary of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Genia Merideth and husband Bob of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Mary Gower and husband Frank of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Pam Lilly of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Annette Creel and husband Robin of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri with Mr. Gary Bird officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and V.F.W. Honor Guard.

    We always had a good time with Curtis at the farm. We loved seeing all his many “treasures “. He and Bill had Ali in common that way. Lol

    I just read about the passing of Curtis and am so sorry for the loss to his family. Curtis, his brother Jim, then .wife Jean, and good friends Floyd and Bertie Wheeler had so much fun together in the mid 60’s. Such good times I will surely remember for the rest of my life.. RIP Curtis
