RICHARD WAYNE FOOTE
Richard Wayne Foote was born February 8, 1939 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life on July 26, 2024 at his home in Pleasant Hill, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 18 days.
He was the son of Leslie Lloyd and Jewel Ethel (Cooper) Foote.
Richard spent his younger years in Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1956. After graduation, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was a fire control technician on the USS Macon.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Richard returned to Belton, Missouri and began working at Western Electric. After a few years he had an opportunity to work for the Gas Service Company where he began his career as a pipefitter, then he moved to the Ford Motor Company. During a lay-off from Ford, Richard took a position with Corning Fiberglass, but returned to Ford Motor company in 1986 where he worked until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #249.
On May 31, 1968, Richard was united in marriage with Joyce Elaine Hyatt in Belton where they continued to make their home. In 1987, Richard and Joyce moved to Raymore, Missouri for three years, then to Peculiar, Missouri where they lived until 1998. In 1999, Richard and Joyce built their “dream home” in Country Creek Estates in Pleasant Hill. Joyce Elaine Foote passed away on August 3, 2014 and Richard continued to live in their home until 2017 when he moved to Sugarland Estates.
Richard was an avid golfer, a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan and a dedicated fisherman. He made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger.
Richard was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #8220 of Belton, Missouri, and a member of Country Creek Golf Course where he played on the senior league and marshalled for the golf course.
In addition to his wife, Joyce Elaine Foote, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Jewel Foote; one sister, Evelyn (Foote) Edwards and one granddaughter Olivia Joyce Eastep.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Dimoush of Kansas and, Troy Foote and wife Vanessa of Trimble, Missouri; two daughters, Melissa Dimoush of Rantoul, Kansas and, Robin Ellen Foote of Harrisonville, Missouri; two brothers, Burton Foote and wife Linda of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and Lloyd Allen Foote and wife Betty of Raymore, Missouri; two sisters, June Ellen (Foote) King and Mildred (Foote) Sargent both of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Rachael (Foote) Clevenger, Shelby (Foote) Eastep, Luke Foote, Taylor Fordyce, Bruce Mayo, Brant Mayo and Elaina Clark; step-grandchildren, Parker Mertz, Skyler Mertz and Abigail Mertz; Six Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorial Service and Visitation for Richard Wayne Foote will be held at the Big Creek Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill, Missouri on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Vest officiating. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Gunn City Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
