RICHARD DEAN ROSS, ɪ

Richard Dean Ross, ɪ, was born February 2, 1948 in Fayette, Missouri and departed this life on December 28, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 26 days.

 He was the son of Bill James and Hazel J. (Childers) Ross.

Richard spent his younger years in Fayette, Missouri, later the Ross family moved to the Pleasant Hill, Missouri area. Richard was a 1966 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School.

On November 27, 1985, Richard was united in marriage with Barbara L. Jackson in Strasburg, Missouri. After their marriage, they made their home in Strasburg. Mrs. Barbara Ross preceded Richard in death on February 7, 2024.

Richard worked for Allis Chalmers where he was an assembler and a union representative. He retired in 1991 with over 30 years of service. After his retirement from Allis Chalmers, Richard managed the Tobacco House in Bates City, Missouri for a number of years before he and his wife opened their own store, Tobacco House #2 in Pleasant Hill which they operated for 3 years.

In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.

In addition to his wife, Barbara L. Ross, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Bill James and Hazel J. (Childers) Ross; one daughter, Deana Rochelle Ross and, one brother, James Everett Ross.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Dean Ross, II, of LaTour, Missouri, Kenneth Dewayne Ross and wife Kimberly of Strasburg, Missouri and Brian Keith Ross of Holden, Missouri; step-son, Scott Wayne Oliver of Bates City, Missouri; brother, Steve Ross and wife Kathy of Neosho, Missouri; sisters, Carlin Dillon and husband Paul of Holden, Missouri, Debbie Slayden and husband Rob of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Anisa Feitz and husband James of Harrisonville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Richard Dean Ross will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Maplewood and Brownington Cemetery, Brownington, Missouri with Rev. Tim Casteel officiating. Casket Bearers will be Brian Ross, Will Ross, Scott Oliver, Jaron Truelove, Johnathan Herman and Brian Martin.
