Raymond Walter Kern was born November 1, 1962, in Paola, Kansas to John Walter and Cecelia Grace (Deal) Kern, and departed this life, unexpectedly, on March 9, 2022, at Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, Colorado, at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Raymond spent most of his life in Cass County, Missouri, attending school in Gunn City and Drexel, Missouri.
On December 4, 2006, Raymond was united in marriage to Jacquelynn Suzanne (Rogers) Springer in Las Vegas, Nevada. Raymond and Jackie lived several places after their marriage, but in March of 2017 they moved to Urich, Missouri to make their home on the Kern Ranch.
In 1981 Raymond started his life-long career as a truck driver, hauling cattle for several trucking companies. After his marriage, Raymond and Jackie became co-owners and operators of their own trucking company, R Bar J Livestock, LLC.
Raymond enjoyed helping his brother, Richard Rogers run heavy equipment and helping his dad, Jack Rogers work cattle. He also enjoyed fishing, Bar B Qing on his smoker, loved spending time with his wife Jackie, his dogs and watching their cattle and experiencing “random adventures”. Raymond always said his job was to make someone laugh every day. Family was important to Raymond, and he loved spending time with them, especially his grandsons Wyatt and Luke.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia Kern; one brother, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Kern of the home; his dad, Jack Rogers of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; his father, John Kern of Drexel, Missouri; mother-in-law, Carolyn Rogers of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; sons, Tyler Springer and Lauren of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, John David Kern of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Michael Kern of Adrian, Missouri; daughters, Katie Bunch and Andy of Garden City, Missouri, and Ashley Kern of Freeman, Missouri; grandchildren, Wyatt, Luke, James, Michael, Lexi, Chase, Gabriel, Nova, Johnny, William and Alex; brothers, Nathan Lee Centralia, Washington, Richard Rogers and Amy of Holden, Missouri, and Sam Lee and Valarie of Urbana, Missouri; sisters, Cheryl DeVoe and Mike of Garnett, Kansas, Jessica Steward and Shaun of Kingsville, Missouri, Samantha Rogers of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sadie Rogers of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Cecelia Lee, Unknown; Carolyn Keesee of Missouri, Sharon Lee of Arkansas, Gina unknown; nephews, Brad and Johnny, other relatives and many, many friends.
The family of Raymond Kern will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, 519 Cedar Street, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, 64080.
The family suggests contributions to Shriners Hospital, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63110. Checks should be made payable to Shriners Hospital.
