Ralph J. Klein

Ralph John Klein, 92 of Pleasant Hill, MO formally of Sedalia, MO, departed this life January 28, 2021. He was born July 17, 1928 in Bahner, MO, son of Louis Francis and Johanna Adeline (Weller) Klein. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus #13113, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Pleasant Hill, MO. Ralph was formally a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Charles Klein (Sedalia, MO), older brother Leonard Klein (Sedalia, MO), and sister Rose Mary Becker (Wichita, KS). Ralph is survived by his wife Roberta of the home for 67 years, daughter Cynthia & Paul Brownsberger (Pleasant Hill), son Charles “Chuck” Klein (Raymore), and son Paul & Patsy Klein (Pleasant Hill), seven grandchildren: Marla Sanders (Christopher), Matthew Klein (Jill), Patric Brownsberger (Cynthia), Susan Massen (Jerreld), Michael McNew (Mariah), Devin Klein (Miranda), Angela Klein, and 12 great grandchildren: Andrew, Michael, Josie, Cheyenne, Noah, Gabriel, Samuel, Elijah, Sawyer, Justin, Hayden, Bellamy, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ralph served two years in the U.S. Army Infantry Division from January 26, 1951 to December 31, 1952. Twelve months of his time was spent in Ulm, Germany during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged Ralph spent five years in the Army Reserves.

In 1953 Ralph worked for Swifts & Company in Sedalia, MO. In October 1954 he went to work for Missouri Public Service Company as a Gas Laborer, changing to an Apprentice Fireman in 1958, became a Fireman in 1960, and in 1961 was transferred to Assistant Operator at the Ralph Green Plant in Pleasant Hill, MO. Ralph was promoted to Plant Operator in 1973 where he remained until his retirement on January 31, 1991. He was a charter member of Missouri Public Service Company 25 Year Club and in 2006 was honored with a citation and pin by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). In August 2016, with sincere affection and deep gratitude, the IBEW presented Ralph with a citation and pin in honor of his loyal and faithful years of membership.

Ralph will be remembered as a loving and very, very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church on Thursday, February 4th, 2021, with Reverend Joseph I. Cisetti, Celebrant, Father Curt Vogel, Concelebrant and Monsignor Bradley Offutt, Homilist. Services will begin at 10am, starting with the Rosary, visitation to follow at 10:30 a.m., Mass will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army and VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill. Pallbearers will be Patric Brownsberger, Andrew Brownsberger, Michael McNew, Christopher Sanders, Gabriel Sanders, and Mark Becker.

Masks and social distancing will be required. For those unable to attend in person, Funeral Service will be streamed on St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill, Missouri facebook page.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to St. Bridget Catholic Church Dream Fund in care of St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2103 N. Lexington Road, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080.
