Missy Murray Spratford, 66, passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 29th. She was born and raised in Kansas City where she spent her entire life.
Missy was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School and attended the University of Kansas where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education. While at KU, she was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority where she made many lifelong friends. After graduation she taught for 15 years, before retiring to raise her family.
In 1985 she married Michael Murray. They were married until his death in 2011. In 2013, she married Gene Spratford, and although their time together was short, it was filled with joy. Missy was a member of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection since 1994.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents Al and Mary Hueben, her brother David Hueben, and her late husband Michael C. Murray.
She is survived by her husband Gene Spratford; her two sons; John and Geoff Murray; her daughter-in-law, Arkisha Murray; three grandchildren, Brice, London and Akiva, and her extended family. She also leaves her loyal companion, her dog Diamond. Missy lit up the room with her radiant smile. Her beloved family and many friends will miss her smile, her joyful spirit and the love and support she showed them and all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice for their care and compassion and to countless friends who sent their love.
