Mary Ruth (Smith) Richardson was born December 18, 1944 on her parents farm in Kingsville, Missouri and passed away November 25, 2015 at Raymore Rehabilitation Center in Raymore, Missouri, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 7 days. She was the fourth of eight children born to Lawrence W. and Julia (Shackleford) Smith.
Mary spent her younger years in the Kingsville area and graduated from Kingsville High School in 1962. In high school she participated in softball, basketball and was a Kingsville cheerleader for all 4 years.
On January 12, 1963, she was united in marriage with George Lyle Bradshaw in Holden, Missouri and to this union three children were born. They later divorced.
On December 23, 1968, Mary was united in marriage with James C. Richardson.
Mary had made her home in Pleasant Hill since 1968 and had worked for King Louie sewing factory in Pleasant Hill from 1975 until it closed in 1985. She then went to work for a daycare center in Lee’s Summit, MO for several years before becoming employed at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center where she worked until declining health forced her retirement in 2008.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Julia Smith; one son, James Lyle Bradshaw; one brother, Joe Allen Smith; one sister, Connie Sue Kilgore and one niece, Peggy Bartlett Eddings.
She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Bradshaw) Kauffman and husband Tillman and Becky (Bradshaw) Turner all of Pleasant Hill; two brothers, Charley Smith of Kingsville, Missouri, and Kelly Smith and wife Carmen of Montrose, MO; three sisters, Janette Smith of Holden, Missouri, Judy Strutton of Independence, Missouri and Patsy Morrison and husband Larry of Holden, Missouri; Six grandchildren, Ashton Bricker and Alyssa Delong of Latour, Missouri, Andy Kauffman and Colton Brinkoetter both of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Cotey Turner and Ciera Spangler of Gunn City, Missouri, twin granddaughters, Cassadee and Cacee Turner of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; great grandson, Conner Turner of Gunn City, Missouri and another great grandson due in February.
A Graveside Service for Mary Ruth (Smith) Richardson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
