MARY LOU (Metcalf) FRANCY
Mary Lou (Metcalf) Francy was born November 22, 1932 in Harrisonville, Missouri and departed this life on October 26, 2022 at her home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 4 days.
She was the daughter of O. W. and Louise E. (Richardson) Metcalf.
Mary Lou spent her younger years in the Archie, Missouri area and graduated from Archie High School.
In December of 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage with Frederick “Dale” Francy, Sr. in Harrisonville, Missouri. After their marriage, Mary Lou and Dale lived in the rural Harrisonville area until 1958 when they moved to their farm in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Mr. Dale Francy, Sr. passed away on June 8, 2008 and Mary Lou continued to live out her life on their farm.
Mary Lou was a loving and hard-working farm wife and mother. She raised and butchered chickens, planted a large garden and canned whatever she raised. Mary Lou did whatever was necessary to help support and sustain her family. In the 1970’s, in addition to her farm duties, Mary Lou became a full-time bus driver for the Strasburg School District.
In her younger years, Mary Lou enjoyed horseback riding. Later, she enjoyed mowing and working in her yard and, when time permitted, fishing. What she loved the most, however, was watching her children, and then her grandchildren, participate in school activities and sports. Mary Lou’s life revolved around her family.
In addition to her husband, Dale Francy, Sr., Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, O. W. and Louise Metcalf and two sons, Dale Francy, Jr. and David Francy.
She is survived by two sons, Dean Francy and wife Debbie of Garden City, Missouri and Doug Francy and wife Kim of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Francy and fiancé Donnie Emo of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Mary Lou (Metcalf) Francy will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Strasburg Cemetery with Elder Darrell Shewmaker officiating. Casket Bearers will be Doug Francy, Dean Francy, Davy Francy, Donnie Emo, Gary Helton and Michael Francy.
The family suggests contributions, in memory of Mary Lou Francy, to the Strasburg Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
