MARCELLA (Mares) BOLLINGER

Marcella (Mares) Bollinger was born April 10, 1946 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and departed this life on January 15, 2024 at Independence Manor Care Center in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by the love of family, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 5 days.

She was the daughter of Marcos and Eva Maria Alicia (Martinez) Mares.

Marcella spent her younger years in New Mexico, graduating for Logan High School in Logan, New Mexico. She was untied in marriage with Gene Bollinger and spent the next several years as a United States Air Force wife. Marcella and Gene later divorced.

Marcella worked several places before her retirement including the Argosy Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.

Marcella enjoyed sewing and was an expert seamstress. But above all else, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her three grandchildren.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Marcos and Eva Mares; one sister, Irene Jenkins and one brother, Luciano Mares.

She is survived by her sons, Marc Avery Bollinger and wife Kristin of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Neil Bollinger; two brothers, Joe Mares and wife Patricia of Warrensburg, Missouri and, Fernando Mares of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one sister, Viola Solary of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, Chance Bollinger, Abigail Lewis and spouse Taylor, and Taylor Bollinger; two nieces, Camilla McGinnis and Marie Smith; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

    Aloha to my aunt. Have not seen her since I was young in Kansas City. Did speak with her around 2017. She had called me.
