Larry L. Neilson was born October 30, 1946 in Ottawa, Kansas and departed this life on November 10, 2015 at his home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 69 years and 11 days. He was the son of Olin Lewis and Betty Jean (Parker) Neilson.
Larry spent his younger years on the family farm in Ottawa, Kansas. When he was 13 the family moved to Topeka, Kansas where he graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1965.
Larry worked in the sheet rock business most of his life. After moving to Pleasant Hill in 1988 he established Neilson Drywall, which he owned and operated until declining health forced his retirement.
On May 6, 1989, he was united in marriage with Carol L. (Hand) Taylor in Pleasant Hill and they continued to make their home here.
Larry enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt. But what gave him the most joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, especially if he could play cards.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Betty Neilson and one sister, Peggy McDonald.
He is survived by his wife Carol L. Neilson and one daughter, Michelle Lynn (Neilson) Behney and husband Zachary, all of Belton, Missouri; two step-sons, Les Taylor and wife Kris of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Jeff Taylor and wife Michell of Nevada, Missouri; one step-daughter, Robin Worden and husband Bob of Harrison, Arkansas; two sisters, Kathy Bredahl and husband Scott Wilson of Topeka, Kansas and Lorraine Breitweiser of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Lillian and Adrian; numerous step-grandchildren and step great- grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
The family of Larry Neilson will host a Memorial Visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 in the Lions Shelter House at the Pleasant Hill City Lake.

Due to inclement weather forecast, the family has decided to hold Larry’s Memorial Visitation at the Big Creek Cafe, 113 Wyoming St. Pleasant Hill,Mo. Please, come have a cup of coffee with us in memory of Larry.
