JEAN (Keithley) ALEXANDER

Jean (Keithley) Alexander was born December 10, 1945 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life on January 10, 2025 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of 79 years and 1 month.

She was the daughter of Albert and Hilda (Greene) Keithley.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1963. On June 16, 1963, Jean was united in marriage with Ellis Alexander at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. After their marriage they made their home in Pleasant Hill.

Jean devoted her entire life to her family. She was a fulltime wife and mother. Jean was involved in her children’s activities, including being a room-mother for both of her sons. She had quite a reputation for the delicious sugar cookies she made for school parties and they were always in high demand. Later, when the grandchildren came along, she was just as active in their lives, helping to raise them with the same love, compassion and values as she raised her own children. Jean always hosted Sunday and holiday dinners for her family at her home. The best time of her life was when she was surrounded by those she loved.

Jean enjoyed time spent at their lake house on Pomme de Terre. She loved sitting on the deck and watching all the wildlife that inhabited the area. Jean loved animals. Over the years, she rescued many injured and abandoned animals, including a baby skunk, baby squirrels, two of which she named Frick and Frack, and many others. She also loved her cats and chickens.

Jean was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, and for many years, was a member of the Live Wires Square Dance Club and made many of her square-dancing costumes.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Hilda Keithley.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ellis Alexander of the home; two sons, Brian Alexander; and Daryl Alexander and wife Dena all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Tyler Alexander and wife Emilee of Belton, Missouri; and Mikaella Woodall and husband Logan of Greenwood, Missouri; and 2 great-grandchildren, Emery and Colter.

At Jean’s request, a private graveside service was held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
