Howard L. Miller was born April 11, 1935 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life on August 29, 2019 at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 84 years, 4months and 18 days.
He was the son of C. W. and Marie (Pine) Miller.
Howard spent his entire life in Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1953. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Howard returned to Pleasant Hill where he continued to farm and was owner and operator of Miller Water Hauling. For over 20 years, he was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and a member of the American Postal Workers Union.
On January 24, 1960, Howard was united in marriage with Judy S. Leach at the Lake Lotawana Community Church and they made their home in Pleasant Hill.
Howard had been a member of the Pleasant Hill Voluntary Fire Department and the Bit and Spur Club of Pleasant Hill. He was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, C. W. and Marie Miller; two brothers, Kenneth Miller and Donnie Miller and one sister, Eunice Hedger.
He is survived by his wife, Judy S. Miller of the home; two sons, Mark Miller of Garden City, Missouri, and Jeff Miller and wife Carolyn of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Flo Myers and husband J. B. of Gladstone, Missouri; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Howard L. Miller will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Wallace Funeral Home. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. at the funeral home with Rev. Preston Sanders officiating. Casket Bearers will be Flint Miller, Doug Miller, Kyle Miller, Dave Christensen, D. L. Crust and Chris North. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Navy and VFW. Post #3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Judy, I am so sorry to hear about Howard. He was one of my very favorite guys at the Post Office. He always had a smile. I will be out of state on Thursday. I am so sorry to miss his services. I am thinking of you. With love, Kathy McCauley.
