Gladys Faye (Kennedy) McDonald-Gillogly was born Tuesday, July 27, 1926 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life, surrounded by the love of her family on September 8, 2017 in Paola, Kansas, at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 12 days. She was the daughter of Wayne and Ruth (Lancaster) Kennedy.
Faye was a longtime resident of Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1944. On January 9, 1946, she was united in marriage with Robert Wayne McDonald in Sedalia, Missouri. After their marriage Faye and Robert lived in Raytown, Missouri for about 15 years before moving back to Pleasant Hill to make their home. Mr. Robert McDonald preceded Faye in death on November 24, 1986.
Faye worked at Lake City and Bendix before taking a position with Western Electric as a layout operator. She worked for Western Electric for 20 years before her retirement. On January 28, 1991 Faye was united in marriage with Floyd Russell Gillogly in Miami, Oklahoma and they made their home in Kansas. Mr. Gillogly passed away on June 26, 2005 and Faye continued to live in Kansas until her death.
In addition to both of her husbands, Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ruth Kennedy; her brother, Roy Kennedy, and her sister, Elizabeth Garry. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Rogers of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Diane Karna and husband Rick of Azle, Texas; one step-son, Don Gillogly of Drexel, Missouri; three step-daughters, Anna Abney of Kansas, Alice Houston of Wisconsin and Karen Gillogly also of Kansas; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, twenty one step great-grandchildren, twelve step great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Service for Faye McDonald-Gillogly will be held at2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13,2017 at the Wallace funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with Elder Duane Rogers, officiating. Casket Bearers will be Daniel Karna, Kyle Karna, Caleb Rogers, Cameron Rogers, Pat Garry and Mike Kennedy. Honoarary Bearers are Emily Mallinson, Cambria Rogers, Cooper Devine, Elijah,and Willow Karna. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to service time from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions “In Memory of Faye McDonald-Gillogly” to Vintage Park of Paola/Activity Fund, 601 N. East Street, Paola, Kansas 66071, or may be left at the funeral home.
