Elsie Pearl (Ross) Ward was born August 31, 1930 in Cherryvale, Kansas and departed this life on September 26, 2015 at Oak Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Grove, Missouri, at the age of 85 years and 26 days. She was the daughter of Harley Earl and Margaret (Gartner) Ross.
Elsie spent her younger years in the Cherryvale and Independence, Kansas area and graduated from Independence Kansas High School in 1948. After graduation she moved to Independence, Missouri to make her home and raise her four children.
Elsie had been a secretary for an insurance company, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. In her younger years, Elsie enjoyed square dancing, but her love and passion throughout her life was her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley Earl and Margaret Ross; one brother, Harley Ross and two sisters, Margaret LaForest and Jessie Wood.
Elsie is survived by one son, Randall Holland of Ankeny, Iowa; three daughters, Monica Colleen Mygatt of Houston, Texas, Helen Madison of Holden, Missouri and Jerri Bailey of Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, George and Floyd Ross both of Florida and Lloyd Ross of Moline, Kansas; three sisters, Orah Christon of Sparks, Nevada, Emma LeForte of Coffeyville, Kansas and Judith Bray of Cherryvale, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Melanie Young and Tiffany Smith of Houston, Texas, Robert, Steven and Joseph Bailey all of Iowa, Kelsey and Kayla Holland, also of Iowa, Mindy and Shannon Madison both of Kansas City, Missouri; four great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
As per Elsie wishes, cremation has been accorded and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
