DOROTHY ANN (Johnson) BRISCOE

Dorothy Ann (Johnson) Briscoe was born May 2, 1938 in Greenwood, Missouri and departed this life on April 29, 2024 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 85 Years, 11 months and 27 days.

She was the daughter of George and Bessie (How) Johnson.

Dorothy spent her younger years in the Greenwood, Missouri area and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School.

On March 31, 1961, Dorothy was united in marriage with Billy Dean Briscoe in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and they made their home at Unity Village, Missouri.

For many years, Dorothy owned and operate her own house cleaning business.

In the mid 90’s, Dorothy and Billy moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Mr. Briscoe passed away in 1997 and Dorothy continued to make her home in Pleasant Hill.

Dorothy was an excellent seamstress. She lovingly fashioned wedding dresses and clothing for family and friends. She was also an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.

Dorothy had been a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Missouri.

In addition to her husband Billy, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bessie Johnson; one daughter, Sandy Ann Brown; one brother, Leon Johnson and one sister, Shirley Brenner.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Briscoe and wife Louise and, Dennis Briscoe; one daughter Phyllis Hawks and husband Craig; one sister, Virginia Johnson; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services for Dorothy Ann (Johnson) Briscoe will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tim Casteel officiating. Casket Bearers will be Richard Briscoe, Dennis Briscoe, James Briscoe, Danny Foley, Paul Weddle and Arron Strauss.
