DENNIS WAYNE LUEKER

Dennis Wayne Lueker was born January 9, 1953 in Carrollton, Missouri and departed this life on August 29, 2024 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 20 days.

He was the son of Gerald Wayne and Vivian Faye (Hobbs) Lueker.

Dennis spent most of his life in the Freeman and Cleveland, Missouri area. He was a 1971 graduate of Cass Midway High School.

After graduation, Dennis went to work at Harvey’s in Harrisonville, Missouri as a tractor mechanic for a while before attending the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy. After his graduation from the Academy, Dennis joined the State Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and worked there for 3 years.

On May 2, 1981, Dennis was united in marriage with Tammy Lorraine Odom in Cleveland, Missouri. After their marriage, Dennis and Tammy made their home in Cleveland.

Also in 1981, Dennis took a position with the Grandview Police Department, where he worked for 16 years before retiring as a detective in 1997. After retiring from law enforcement, Dennis took a position with Water District #7 as a water treatment engineer and worked there until 2002. After retiring from the water district, Dennis went to work for Ed Stark at Star Krest Ranch and worked there for several years.

Dennis was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Missouri.

Dennis enjoyed taking people fishing and hunting, especially his own children and grandchildren, watching old westerns, raising and training English Setters, and working as a mechanic on farm machinery, and in his younger years, had been a professional bull rider.

Dennis was a dedicated and loving Husband, Dad and Papa. He was proud of his family and delighted in their accomplishments.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Wayne Lueker, his mother, Vivian Faye (Hobbs) Heuser and one granddaughter, Sophie Marie Lueker.

He is survived by his wife Tammy (Odom) Lueker of the home; three sons, Shannon Lueker of Freeman, Missouri, CR Lueker of Cleveland, Missouri and Clayton Lueker and wife Leigh Anne of Cleveland, Missouri; one daughter, Cody Ann Hoskins and husband Aaron of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two brothers, Daniel Lueker of Vanzant, Missouri and Donnie Heuser and wife Lisa of Corder, Missouri; one sister, Cheryl Ann Hunter and husband Delbert of Cabool, Missouri; grandchildren, Kyle, Tanner, Cole, Faith, Isabelle, Gunner, Olivia, Pryce and Hayes; one great-grandson, Benjamin, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

The family of Dennis Wayne Lueker will host a Celebration of Life Visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Missouri. Graveside Service and Inurnment will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, Missouri, with Pastor Bob King officiating.

    Most sincere condolences to the family and all who loved Dennis, while it has been a while since we have been in touch Dennis and I were close friends through high school and I considered him a great friend and team mate back in the day . He was always pretty quiet back then and pretty head strong I will miss him.
