Dennis Wayne Allen was born June 7, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on December 28, 2021, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 21 days.
He was the son of Floyd Carl and Betty Laurie (Allen) Allen.
Dennis spent his younger years in Independence, Missouri, graduating from Van Horn High School in 1965. After graduation he attended college, then went to work for an insurance company for a short time before going to work with is father as a painter. Later, he and a friend, Bill Cox, started their own business, AC Wallcoverings. Dennis owned and operated AC Wallcoverings until his retirement in 2006.
On September 3, 1988, Dennis was united in marriage with Sharrel Arlett Thompson in Overland Park, Kansas. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri until 2006 when they moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home.
Dennis was an avid bowler, he liked to play pool, work in his garden and landscape his own yard. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dennis had a deep and abiding faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved to share his personal relationship with the Lord with anyone and everyone.
Dennis was a loving, caring and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed family gatherings, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. One of his favorite, and most remembered sayings by his grandchildren will always be “Glad you got to see me, I’ll come back when I can’t stay so long”.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Carl and Betty Laurie (Allen) Allen and one sister, Sherri Bond.
He is survived by his wife, Sharrel Arlett (Thompson) Allen of the home; two sons, Michael Allen of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and, Craig Allen and wife Beth of Jefferson City, Missouri; one daughter, Tandi Donnell and husband Alex of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one brother, Ronnie Wendell and wife Pam of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jacob Ford of Parkville, Missouri, Nathan Allen of St. Louis, Missouri, Kaylee Ford of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Lauren Allen of Alton, Illinois, Tyler Donnell of Blue Springs, Missouri, Rachel Beach of Knoxville, Missouri and Katie Donnell of Kansas City, Missouri; nine Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
In Loving Memory of Dennis Allen, the family will host a Celebration of Life from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Open Range Fellowship, 509 West Lone Jack Lee’s Summit Road, Lone Jack, Missouri 64070.
