Dennis J. Hogue, age 67, was born March 4, 1953 in Independence, Missouri. God called him home on May 20, 2020 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & “Jerrie” Alma Geraldine (Barker) Hogue.
Dennis was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where he was honored to be an Alter Boy. He attended St. Ann’s Grade School. Dennis graduated from St. Mary’s High School, class of 1972.
In his younger years, he could be found running up and down the lake pulling skiers, zip sled and inner tube riders. He and his friends were gone from sunup to sometimes past sundown.
His favorite place was truly Lake of the Ozarks, Ivy Bend, which was always on his mind. When the time was right, he would have returned there, where he and his wife Patti could again enjoy lake life.
On May 4, 1974, Dennis was united in marriage with Patricia “Patti” Searcy at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. They celebrated their 46th Anniversary in 2020.
After their marriage, Dennis and Patti lived in Independence, Missouri., later moving to Calhoun, Missouri., and eventually settling in Creighton, Missouri.
Dennis had a very strong work ethic. He never met a stranger. He was also the guy you called when you needed help with anything! He was always willing to lend a hand to help friends and family. Unfortunately, as time went by, his mind was always willing, but his body would say “no I don’t think so”.
He started working at Armco Steel in the early 70’s and remained there until the plant shut down. From there he opened his own business in fabrication “DENCO”. Later he worked for Meyer Metal in Windsor and then at Champion Brand/Lowe Oil Co., Clinton, Missouri from which he took disability.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia “Patti”/ “Pat” (Searcy) Hogue of the home; two sons, Dennis Hogue, Jr. of Harrisonville, Missouri., and Christopher Joseph Hogue of the home; one grandson, Thomas Alexander; two brothers, Patrick Hogue and wife Joyce, and Michael Hogue and wife Kathy all of Garden City, Missouri; one sister, Rhonda Lugenbeel and husband Dean of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one aunt, Joe Helen (Barker) Barnett, 97 years, of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Rosary Recitation will be at 12:30 p.m. with Celebration of Life Prayer Service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. all Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Father Mike Clary of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate.

Dennis was my uncle. I can remember so many fun parties he hosted for our family, he always loved having fun and entertaining friends and family. I spent a lot of time as a kid at his house playing with my cousins when my aunt would babysit me. He was always a fun and happy guy to be around. He will be greatly missed. RIP Uncle Denny, love Sam.
