Debora Jean Artz (Chaplin)
September 27, 1958 – May 7, 2024
Debora Jean Artz (Chaplin) went home to the LORD on May 7th, 2024, in the comfort of her home, with the love of her life, Fred Artz and family watching over her.
Debbie was born in Kansas City, MO. to Glenn and Jeanette Chaplin. She grew up in the Ruskin/Pleasant Hill area and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1976. Being the fourth of five children, Debbie became the “Matriarch” of the family at the early age of 10. It wasn’t long after that she began a family of her own. Debbie worked many jobs to support the family that included waitressing and cooking. Her favorite job was cooking at the Boys Scout Camp in Iconium, MO. where she was referred to as “Rosanne Barr”. Having a quick wit and sometimes a dirty joke, she always left you with a smile. Confident and strong-willed, she always had an answer for any situation, and she raised her children to be the same way. Debbie loved gardening, always having herbs, plants and produce growing around the house. She also was very creative and had a love for crafting, having an entire room in her house dedicated to it. On February 14th, 1993, she married the love of her life, Fred Ray Artz. Together, they raised 3 children, Christina Faye Capek (Myers), Williiam Ray Myers, and Amanda Michelle Peek (Myers) instilling a love for God and setting the example of a strong, loving marriage.
Debbie is preceded in death by both her parents, Glenn and Jeanette, and her older brother, Michael.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Fred of the home, children: Christina (Jim) Capek, William (Chantel) Myers, and Amanda (James) Peek, siblings: Albert (Liz) Chaplin, Kaithlyn Collier, Patrick Chaplin, grandchildren: Quincy (Katelyn) Benedict, Miriah (Avery) Schell, Ezekiel Myers, Nathan Myers, Alana Cole, Katrina Cole, Juliana Cole, Savannah Meade, Gabriel Meade, Alyssa Meade, Dominick Meade, Hannah Peek, Hailey Peek, great-grandchildren: Paisley, Octavia, and Logan, and many other family members.
