Cora (Tilton) Matthews

Cora (Tilton) Matthews was born January 26, 1931 in Trego County, Kansas and departed this life on February 23, 2019 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 88 years and 28 days.

She was the daughter of Ernest Leroy and Cora Jane (Morley) Tilton.

Cora lived in Kansas until she was 15 years old, at that time the Tilton family moved to Warrensburg where Cora graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1949.

On September 6, 1949, she was united in marriage with Eugene C. Matthews in Warrensburg, Missouri, and for several years they lived in the Johnson County, Missouri area before moving to Pleasant Hill, Missouri in 1959 to make their home.

Cora was a full time homemaker devoting her life to her husband and family. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness of Pleasant Hill.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Cora Tilton; her husband Eugene C. Matthews on February 24, 1999, and one sister, Betty Stewart.

She is survived by five sons, Joseph Matthews and wife Kathy of Meridian, Oklahoma, Donald Matthews of Nixa, Missouri, Carl Matthews and wife Beverly of Bolivar, Missouri, Robert Matthews of Independence, Missouri and Mark Matthews of Warsaw, Missouri; one daughter, Jane Matthews of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchldren, other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded and no services are scheduled at this time.
