Sunrise of life began for Conrad “Lee” Gamblin on October 17, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee and the sunset of his life came on September 2, 2020 at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 16 days.
He was the son of Albert Lee and Jetti Ann (Chappel) Gamblin.
Lee spent his younger years in Memphis, Tennessee where he also attended school. In 1956, Lee joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. While in the military, Lee went on a blind date with a young woman named Wilma J. Campbell, the date was a success, and on August 3, 1958, Lee and Wilma were united in marriage at the Nazarene Church in Creston, Iowa.
After Lee’s military service, he became a connoisseur of employment, which included truck driver, selling cars and insurance, city/school/cross-country bus driver and many more, as he would provide for his growing family. As Lee felt a strong calling to the ministry he moved his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado to attend the Nazarene Bible College from 1975-1978. Upon graduation and becoming an ordained Nazarene minister, he served in numerous churches throughout the United States. Upon retiring from the ministry, Lee went back to trucking in order to run team routes with his son Keith and then several years later he would run team routes with his son Kevin, both of whom were also truck drivers. Lee also served as an assistant manager and then as manager for Brown Memorial Home in Abilene, Ks. Lee was a member of the Lee’s Summit, Mo Church of the Nazarene.
The great loves in Lee’s life were his beautiful bride, his loving children, his church ministry and his two favorite types of pie…hot and cold.
Lee was also a talented artist and loved painting the “nature God had created” in oils.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lee and Jetti Ann Gamblin; his wife, Wilma J. Gamblin; two sons, Kevin Lee Gamblin and Keith Daniel Gamblin, Sr.; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
He is survived by two sons, Kendell Gene Gamblin and wife Colleen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kirk Michael Gamblin and wife Kristie of Woodbridge, Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Jodie Heard of Galena, Missouri; two brothers, Kenneth Lamar Gamblin of Warsaw, Missouri, and William Michael “Fuzzy” Gamblin and wife Anita of West Plains, Missouri; Seventeen Grandchildren, Seventeen Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
