Carl Edward Cochran
Carl Edward Cochran, born February 18, 1939, in Little Blue, MO, passed away peacefully at his home in Peculiar, MO, on October 22, 2024. Carl was a man of incredible work ethic and skill, mastering many trades throughout his life. He worked as an auto mechanic for over 40 years at Montgomery Ward’s Automotive Center in Kansas City, MO, and continued working post-retirement at Bob Gray’s Auto Repair.
Carl married the love of his life, Sheila Joy Bailey, on March 20, 1959. Their bond remained steadfast for 65 years, and Sheila was by his side during his final weeks and moments, with the support of their eldest son, Carl Wayne Cochran (Jr.), and Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. Carl lived out his final days with dignity, surrounded by the care and love of his family.
Carl was the beloved father of three sons: Carl Wayne Cochran (Jr.), Joel Douglas Cochran, and Gregory Martin Cochran (who passed away on March 25, 2020). He was adored by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren, Justin (Monica), David, Gary (Katie), Colin, Ian, and Danielle. He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Carl’s life was rooted in strong family values, instilling a sense of work ethic and integrity in his grandsons, who cherished his guidance and example. He found joy in his hobbies, including woodworking, beekeeping, and hunting with his black powder rifle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Joseph Cochran Sr. and Opal Mae (Manning), as well as his siblings George Jr. (Ellen), Mickey (Edith), and Audrey. He is survived by his brother Calvin, and sisters Susan, Gereldine, and Virginia (Jim).
Carl’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of hard work, family devotion, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family of Carl Edward Cochran will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, MO.
