MARGRETT A. (Terril) POPE
Margrett A. (Terril) Pope was born June 19, 1941 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life on April 2, 2025 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 14 days.
She was the daughter of Homer Sherman and Isa Lind (Hockaday) Terril.
Margrett spent her entire life in Pleasant Hill. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1959. After graduation, Margrett went to work at Western Electric in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
On March 5, 1961, Margrett was united in marriage with James “Freddie” Pope at the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill. After their marriage, they made their home in Pleasant Hill. Margrett continued to work at Western Electric until her son, James Lowell Pope was born. She then became a “stay at home mom” for many years, waiting until James was older before going back to work. In 1977, Margrett went to work for her husband’s company, Freddie’s Foundations, as a secretary and office manager. She worked there until her retirement in 2008.
In her younger years, Margrett was quite a softball player and for many years played on a traveling team for Pleasant Hill. She also enjoyed refinishing and repurposing furniture.
Margrett was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her world truly revolved around her family and her home.
Margrett was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Pope; her parents, Homer and Isa Lind Terril and her brother, Charles Edmund Terril.
She is survived by her son, James Lowell Pope and wife Lea Ann of Harrisonville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brody Pope and wife Lindsay of Harrisonville, Missouri and, Nolan Pope and wife Mackenzie of Peculiar, Missouri; two step-grandchildren, Brittney Burns and husband Mike and, Sean Corson and wife Cassie all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Margrett A. (Terril) Pope will receive friend from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation at 12:00 Noon, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tim Casteel, officiating. Casket Bearers will be Nolan Pope, Brody Pope, Jimmy Elliott, Kelly Terril, James Vereecke and James Pope. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
