Thomas Ellis “Tom” Hardy was born November 12, 1945 in Jackson County,
Missouri and departed this life on July 13, 2022 at Research Medical Center in
Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 1 day.
He was the son of Franklin Roosevelt and Geneva Rose (Janes) Hardy.
Tom spent his younger years in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from
Southeast High School, and then obtained his Bachelor’s Degree at William
Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri. After college, he proudly served his country in
the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the military, Tom
went back to school and earned his Master’s Degree in Education.
Tom’s life was dedicated to education. He served as band director, choir
director and drama teacher for several schools, both private and public,
throughout Missouri and Kansas. In 2006, Tom moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri
to make his home, and was a substitute teacher at Pleasant Hill High School
until the spring 2022.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Geneva Hardy and one
sister, Judy Hickman.
He is survived by 3 nieces, Jan Lackey and husband Scott of Leavenworth,
Kansas, Jill Amaro of Wichita, Kansas and Jennifer Woods and husband Scott of
Camdenton, Missouri; 2 great nieces, Jordyn Moore and Sydney Woods; 1 great
nephew, Justin Amaro; other relatives and many friends.
Per Tom’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.
In honor of Thomas Ellis “Tom” Hardy, family and friends will host a balloon
release at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the Pleasant Hill High School
parking lot, 1 Rooster Way, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Hardy was the best. We lived next door to his sister, Judy, and became quick friends with Tom. He was always happy and he loved subbing at PHHS. My kids loved him as a sub and as a person. He and Judy will be greatly missed by my family. Love Always, The Moore’s
