Dianna Rae (Walker) Bruce was born March 11, 1945, in Chester, Nebraska and departed this life on June 10, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 30 days.
She was the daughter of Ray Sherman and Hazel Maude (Weaver) Walker.
Dianna spent her younger years in McPherson, Kansas and graduated from McPherson High School.
On April 8, 1972, Dianna was united in marriage with Robert Amos Bruce in Independence, Missouri. After their marriage, Dianna and Bob lived in Independence for a while before moving to Belton, Missouri. While living in Belton, Dianna and Bob started construction on their “dream home” on property they had purchased in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. After completing their home, Dianna, Bob and family moved to Pleasant Hill in February of 1976.
Over the years, Dianna worked several places as a floral designer and decorator. She worked the last ten years, before her retirement for Hobby Lobby as a sales associate and floral designer.
After Dianna and Bob retired, they split their time between their homes in Pleasant Hill and Weslaco, Texas. They loved spending time in both places and had many good times with friends and family at both locations. Bob Bruce passed away on May 19, 2018, and Dianna continued the tradition of living six months in Pleasant Hill and six months in Texas. While in Texas, Dianna attended the Cowboy Church in Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
Dianna enjoyed, needle work, quilting, and had made quilts for all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her koi pond, gardening and landscaping her yard, “Wednesdays with her girlfriends” going to flea markets and antiquing, and she loved any day she could spend with her little dog, Amos, by her side.
Dianna loved spending time with her family. Her idea of a perfect day was providing a meal for the entire family, then directing them to her yard where see would direct the mowing, trimming, planting and moving of “her rocks” around to create different landscapes, and there were lots of rocks.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Dianna was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Hazel Walker.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Don Price of Independence, Missouri; two daughters, Kammy Holcomb and Rusty Cunningham of Fulton, Missouri, Robin Nading and husband Richard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and her bonus daughter, Angelia Ramos of Ft. Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Joshua Ketter of Melbourne, Florida, Jacob Price of California, Missouri, Brittney Waterman, Alex Waterman and Austin Holcomb all of Fulton, Missouri, James DeLong of Kingsville, Missouri and Dakota Sublett of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Jase A., Jace W., Jaylee R. and Everest P., other relatives and many, many friends.
The family of Dianna Rae (Walker) Bruce will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. James Damon officiating. Casket Bearers will be Richard Nading, James DeLong, Dakota Sublett, James Kincaid, Alex Waterman, and Austin Holcomb.
