Donald Dean Dugan, Jr. was born October 9, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas and departed this life, unexpectedly, on February 25, 2018 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 16 days.
He was the son of Donald Dean Dugan, Sr. and Betty Jane (Young) Dugan.
The Dugan family lived in Bonner Springs, Kansas until Don was 10 years old. They then moved to Springfield, Missouri where Don attended school, including Hillcrest High School. While working at a Chinese restaurant in Springfield, Don met Barbara Diane Rains, the owner’s niece, and on October 24, 1976 they were united in marriage at the First Christian Church of Cleveland, Missouri. Don and Diane lived in several places in Cass County, but the majority of their married life was spent in Belton, Missouri.
Don worked as a sheet metal worker most of his life. He enjoyed playing golf (although most of that time was spent looking for golf balls), and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed watching crime shows, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He and Diane loved going to Daytona Beach, and it was well known that he couldn’t pass up browsing in any pawn shops he might come across.
The most important thing in Don’s life, however, was his family. His entire world revolved around his wife, daughter and especially, his grandchildren, which were the light of his life.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald D. Dugan Sr. and Betty Dugan.
He is survived by his wife Diane of the home; one daughter, Rachel Dugan-Campbell and husband Chance of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Ava Winter Campbell and Hudson Oliver Campbell; one brother, Jim Dugan and wife Glenda; four sisters, Brenda Jolley, Janice Gray and husband Rick, Paula Edwards and husband Greg, and Debbie Scroggins and husband Danny, other relatives and many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded, and the family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill.
