Karen K. (Franse) Nannen was born August 11, 1942 in Overland Park, Kansas and departed this life on August 13, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was the daughter of Murvel H. and Maxine(Nelson) Franse. Karen was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Missouri. She graduated from Midway High School in 1960, which was the first “full year” graduating class for the school.
On June 27, 1981, Karen was united in marriage with Carl Nannen at the Cleveland Christian Church and they made their home in Cleveland.
Karen worked as a Supervisor for the Foundation Workshop in Grandview, Missouri for nineteen years, later she worked in the same capacity for the Nova Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a former member of the Lions Club, and a charter member of the Red Hat Society, both of Cleveland, Missouri. Karen was completely devoted to her family, and was known as “Meema” to her seven granddaughters who she adored.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine (Nelson) Franse on July 13, 1998; her father, Murvel H. Franse on August 5, 2005; one daughter, Toye Roxanne Click on September 22, 2016; one grandson, Joshua James Hunter on September 8, 1981 and her sister, Janice Ann Pennington on May 19, 2015.
Karen is survived by her husband, Carl Nannen of the home; one son, Derek Hunter of Cleveland, Missouri; one sister, Sandra Sue Zumwalt of Cleveland, Missouri; seven granddaughters, Nichole McIntire, Asia Murray, Jami Hunter, Burgandy Thomas, Shelby Hunter, Ashley Hampton and Madison Hunter; fourteen great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Services for Karen K. Nannen will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Missouri with Rev. Brad Meredith officiating. Casket Bearers will be Kevin Zumwalt, Keith Zumwalt, Michael Zumwalt, Kamran Malekya, Gary Wieberg and Wade Kenney. Honorary Bearers will be Daryl Franse, Freeman Pennington, Vincent Zumwalt, Phillip Baumhoff, Clark Martin and Thomas Prettyman. Burial will be in the Glenwild Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the church. In memory of Karen K.
